Slurry Pump

Slurry pump is a centrifugal pump that increases the energy of a solid-liquid mixed medium by the action of centrifugal force and converts electrical energy into kinetic energy and potential energy, and mainly used in mining, power plants, dredging, metallurgy, chemical, building materials and petroleum industries.


A pump that is generally suitable for transporting suspended solids in a liquid is called slurry pump, which is currently one of the indispensable equipment in the various processes of mineral processing and coal preparation plants. Slurry pumps can be divided into single-stage/multi-stage, single-suction/double-suction, cantilever, horizontal/vertical and horizontal/vertical combination of pump casing according to different principles. The basic structure consists of an impeller, a pump casing, a pump shaft, a bearing and a bracket. The power also includes an electric motor, a counter wheel or a belt wheel coupling, etc., the wear parts further include a lining bushing, etc., and the seal includes a shaft seal, The auxiliary impeller or the like, the support member includes a bracket or the like.

Working principle

Under the action of centrifugal force, the liquid is thrown from the center of the impeller to the outer edge and gains energy to leave the outer edge of the impeller at a high speed and enter the volute pump shell. In the volute pump case, the fluid is slowed down due to the gradual expansion of the flow channel, and part of the kinetic energy is converted into static pressure energy. At last, it flows into the discharge pipe and is sent to the place where it is needed. When the liquid flows from the center of the impeller to the outer edge, a certain vacuum is formed in the center of the impeller. Because the pressure above the liquid level of the storage tank is greater than the pressure at the pump inlet, the liquid is continuously pressed into the impeller.
